I was very excited and honoured when Ramona, from Journey Weddings, contacted me to be a part of this lovely styled shoot. Ramona is a wedding planner from the Netherlands, and she helps couples plan their dream wedding in South Africa.
Below you can read what Ramona had to say about the inspiration behind the shoot:
Originally from the Netherlands, I lived in South Africa for 6 years. Although I recently moved back, I’m still considering myself a very lucky girl: having the honour planning weddings in this beautiful country! Most of my clients are overseas clients, who are in love with South-Africa and it’s natural diversity. Safari weddings are therefore very popular. With this shoot I wanted to move away from the more ‘touristy’ Safari look and show that a Safari wedding can be modern and Bohemian as well. I opted to combine modern gold and bronze elements, together with natural materials and some bold colours: teal blue, yellow and oranges. The natural beauty of the country was the perfect undertone for this Bohemian-Safari inspired Styled Shoot.
We shot at the amazing Thali Thali game reserve near Langebaan. While travelling to the location for the shoot we enjoyed a game drive, as we saw large hordes of Springbok and Zebra’s running next to the vehicle. A wonderful experience! Although we were surprised by a fierce South-Easter wind, and even had a small visit of a snake, our models Adré and Christiaan were absolute superheroes and managed to still look beautiful in the process!
It has been such a privilege of working together with an amazing team of very passionate and talented individuals. They have been so creative and so much fun. A big thanks to all of you, without all of you amazing people this wouldn’t have been possible.”
