Callie & Melanie

Porterville

August 2017

“We were both in our final year of law school, when we first met, but only became ‘friends’ after commencing with our articles and attending classes in preparation for our admission exams.  Suffering through hours of classes, we used every opportunity we got getting to know one another and started dating right thereafter.”

I loved photographing Callie & Melanie’s beautiful wedding; which took place on Melanie’s family farm in Porterville. It was a beautiful day with blue skies and pretty canola fields. They both could not contain their excitement to marry each other; Callie even shed a tear as Melanie walked down the aisle 🙂

Their engagement: “We went on a West Coast camping trip, the second week of January.  Every night we went for the customary sunset stroll, nothing out of the ordinary, except for our last night’s stay.  He suggested we go sit by the sea and enjoy the sunset a bit longer.  At this point, I was ignorant to the fact that my then boyfriend was acting odd, more so than usual, as I was suffering from the worst case of holiday blues.  As we are both keen beer-enthusiasts, it was very appropriate that whilst drinking and philosophizing about the future, he reached into his pocket and asked me to be his partner for life.  I cant remember much thereafter, save for the fact that it was by far the best couple of hours.”

Their most memorable moment during the whole planning process: “We decided to only tell those closest to us that we got engaged that day and waited until the next morning to tell our friends and family, which prolonged the special moment we shared with one another, memories I will always treasure.”

I absolutely loved Melanie’s dress by the amazing designer, Janita Toerien. It even had pockets 😉

Love the photo below that my second shooter, Kirsten, took 🙂
