It was love at “first swipe” for Russell & Candice, as they say nowadays 😉
Their wedding day was romantic, fun, rustic and elegant at the amazing Bosduifklip Restaurant in Lambert’s Bay.
How they knew they were meant for one another: “Russ was on deployment in Bahrain when we met, so I knew he would eventually have to leave. We went to SA after his deployment for him to meet my family. We had the most incredible time. We spoke about the future & wanted the same things, most of all we wanted to be together.
Russ says he knew from the minute he asked me to be his girlfriend, haha (that was like 2 weeks in)”

Their Engagement: “Russ was visiting me in Bahrain while he was on his Easter break. We had booked a chalet on Al Dar Island not far from Bahrain for the Weekend. Once we arrived to the chalet we started to unpack our shopping. I was still in work clothes, and we had probably only been there for 10 minutes when next I turned around only to find Russell on one knee on the tiled floor. I was so surprised and happy, he asked me to say yes so that he could stand up his knees were hurting, haha”
Tips for couples planning their wedding: “The paperwork! For all SA brides marrying a Brit in SA, you will need the following; An appointment for an interview with the Dept. of Home Affairs in SA and you need to take along the following; Affidavit confirming the foreign nationals single status, a letter from the British consulate in Cape town or Pretoria explaining why they don’t issue CNI letters, passport copies, proof of residence & witness passport copies. All paperwork cannot be dated older than 6 months. Your welcome!”
