Wedding at Jordan Wine Estate
I met Marcel & Licia in 2016 when they were the musicians at a wedding I photographed. Their talent immediately intrigued me. We kept in touch over the years and I was excited beyond words when they asked me to photograph their wedding day!
Licia & Marcel met at music college more than 10 years ago. I want to say their stars aligned, but how about saying their chords aligned? (get it? LOL) All jokes aside, I truly believe that God handpicked them for each other. And it was so evident at their wedding! Licia is truly the only person I have met who totally rocks purple hair and I just loved her dress!
There are so many small things that happened at their wedding that I loved and that was truly special; they decided to do a first look before the ceremony, the day started out sunny but then it rained during the ceremony (you have to watch the video to see how magical it was!).
For me the most beautiful moment was when they sang their vows to each other (view their Instagram account here), in the form of a song; I Won’t Let You Go by Switchfoot & Lauren Diagle. Not only that, they decided to record their version and I used it in their video. SO romantic!
How they knew they were meant for each other: “A few weeks after meeting Marcel, we were sitting in the hallway of our music campus. Marcel took out his Guitar and played me a song, it was “My stupid mouth by John Mayer”. Don’t really know what it was but at that moment it all just made sense. He played me all the songs I used to listen to as a 16 year old. I prayed for my husband from a young age and it just felt like God put us at the right time at the right place.’
Tips you could pass on to other brides in the planning process? “Write down what it is that you want. Every time a question comes up that is hard to answer, the best thing to do is to go back to what you wrote down and make sure that it is what you want. it is your day, you are allowed to be a little selfish.”
