Jamaka Farm Wedding
The Cederberg never cease to amaze me; and photographing a wedding there was even more amazing! Caitlyne and Andrew’s wedding day was relaxed and fun, friends and family jumped in to help with the setup. They all enjoyed the weekend together while staying (or camping) at Jamaka Farm.
They danced the night away underneath the stars!
How they met: We met at Academia Private Residence in Stellenbosch. I was supposed to go to a friends birthday celebration, however it started late and I ended up spending some time at a Leadership braai. Andrew was in First Year and stayed in the block near to where I was attending the braai. He arrived home from a Wine Tasting Day & decided to gate-crash the braai…
Most memorable moments while planning: 1) My sister giving me (temporarily) my ‘Something Borrowed’ hair clip at a family braai. We went to Joburg for a weekend which included: 2) Seeing & trying on my dress for the First Time. I WhatsApp Video called my parents, sister and all my forest fairies to show them my dress. They all cried. Andrew’s mom, Lesley came with me to this fitting & we shared such special bonding moments through this journey. 3) Wrapping my dress in 3 plastic bags so I could transport it home in my suitcase without Andrew seeing it. And 4) Having a special wedding-cake-tasting with the Lady who is prepping our wedding cake & cupcake (Andrew’s Best Forest Dudes Mom, Bev). She set out a table with tea cups and plates & we felt like we were on an episode of Masterchef – and we were the judges!. Then finally 5) We have also had some tough moments with that have been memorable in the sense of “Typical Wedding Drama”.
Tips for other couples: Solidify your ideal plan in your head, then consult those closest to you about it. Listen to their advise and let them know they are appreciated but don’t let their feedback change YOUR vision of your special, once in a lifetime, day!
