There are many reasons why I love De Uijlenes & why it is one of the top wedding venues in the Overberg. But my no.1 reason would be; I feel at home when I am there.
The reason for that would be the people at the venue; the staff, venue managers – everyone! They are all so welcoming and friendly. And I know you will have the same experience 🙂
Here is a bit of history on how De Uijlenes started (in the words of Staci – head of marketing):
“I (Staci) am from New Zealand and I met Flippie when I was working on a farm in New Zealand and then followed him back here to his family farm here in South Africa. My in-laws ran guest houses on the farm aimed at large groups, schools, churches etc. When Flippie and I arrived on the farm, we started renovating the old dairy, implement sheds and pigsties into what is now the Old Barn & Forest venue. Our original plan was to host bigger school and church camps there, but as we developed the buildings some of the locals asked if they can get married here. We tweaked the buildings so we had the option to do weddings also and developed the Forest ceremony area, 10 years later, weddings are pretty much all we do now and we have since converted the Nightjar into a smaller wedding venue also.”

1. Breathtaking location
Situated in a valley near Gansbaai, De Uijlenes is the perfect farm wedding venue. It is a working dairy & vegetable farm and has been in the same family for nearly 200 years.

They are one of the few venues who have 2 different ceremony & reception locations for you to choose from. I love both so much; each has its own quirks & atmosphere to make your wedding day a unique experience.

“We are one of the few venues that specialize in a 3-day celebration. This means our guests get to spend some quality time with each other and don’t get caught up in the whirlwind of just a one-day wedding. Especially nowadays when the world is so small and rushed! This time we allow for our clients to relax and celebrate with their nearest and dearest over an entire weekend or 3 day weekday celebration really is priceless.”

The Nightjar Venue has the most beautiful bridal suite! It is stylish, spacious & even has a hot tub outside! There is also a designated hair & make-up area.
